According to him, there are no jobs for the youth, and this is the only way some of them are surviving.

He told a charged atmosphere at the Bukom Boxing Arena that his government will explore alternatives to the controversial betting tax, and promise to abolish it.

Addressing concerns at the NDC’s Youth Townhall Meeting in Accra, the party’s flagbearer said in pidgin “This one be the yawa of the day, you see, boys dey hustle and job no dey, so now the bet them dey do small small get money for Gob3.”

He added that “So I understand, this is a matter which concerns the youth, if we come, the betting tax, we go remove am.”

Mr Mahama also called for a more streamlined way of exporting local talent abroad, adding that the current manner in which professionals leave the country due to economic conditions leaves much to be desired.
