Police arrest 487 QNET Ponzi Scheme members in Kumasi

The Ghana Police Service through an intelligence-led operation yesterday, 2nd September, 2024, arrested four hundred and eighty-seven (487) suspects who are members of the Ponzi scheme known as QNET in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. 

The Ghana Police in a statement revealed that the suspects, consisting 257 females and 230 males, were arrested in a house located at Adwuman near Kenyasi, a suburb of Kumasi. 

They added that preliminary investigations established that the suspects through the scheme, successfully enticed unsuspecting persons from various parts of the country under the guise of offering lucrative returns on their investments.

Exhibits retrieved from them include registration documents and other materials bearing the QNET logos. 

Twelve of the arrested suspects who have been identified as executives of the scheme are Gyereh Evelyn, Francis Kpesah, Samuel Musah, Simon Yakubu, Thomas Kotual, Kwasi Nyabi, Benjamin Nsigma, Elijah Musah, Moses Katu, John Balabon Tagnakibi, James Nogma, and Fidelis Bang-ib. They are currently in Police custody assisting the investigation.

This police used the opportunity to urge the public to be wary of such schemes and report such activities.

Police declare suspect wanted for threatening to harm some public officials

The Ghana Police Service has declared wanted a male suspect who is seen in a viral video threatening to shoot and harm some public officials.

The suspect who addressed himself as Kanawu, threatened violence on the public officials and any other person who stands in their way. 

A reward of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 50,000.00) has been earmarked for anyone who is able to share relevant and credible information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect.

Police arrest one person in connection with shooting incident at Bereku in the Central

The Ghana Police Service on Tuesday September 3, 2024, arrested one person in connection with a shooting incident at Bereku in the Central Region.

In a statement, the police revealed that the suspect, Nai Akwasi Lartey, who was wielding a pump action gun shot and injured one person during the Awubia Festival.

The victim was sent to the hospital for medical attention.

The pump action gun with some BB cartridges have been retrieved from the suspect.

Suspect Nai Akwasi Lartey is in Police custody assisting the investigation.

Denkyira Kyekyewere: Assemblyman kills two suspected thieves on his cocoa farm

The Assemblyman for Denkyira Kyekyewere in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality Kwabena Boateng, has shot and killed two individuals suspected of stealing from his cocoa shed.

The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21.

According to Citi News sources, the suspects, identified as 16-year-old Razak and 20-year-old Agyaku, had been stealing cocoa bags from the Assemblyman’s shed for some time.

Despite reporting to the police, the thefts continued, resulting in the loss of 35 bags of cocoa.

On the night of the incident, the Assemblyman allegedly caught the suspects attempting to steal again and fired at them, killing both instantly.

Family members of the deceased have expressed shock and grief over the incident.

The mother of one of the suspects said, “He is my son and he is learning a trade. His boss called and asked that he come back to work since he has not been going to work for a while. I even cursed him and later reverted for not heeding my advice. The Agyaku guy is the one influencing my son. They even stole from a queen mother.”

According to her, “I even consulted a fetish priest to find out why my son was behaving like that and it turned out that the Agyaku guy was the bad influence. I am sad about the incident.”

The Assemblyman has been arrested and is currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.
